Sharing the competed portrait of Sugar. 16x16 inches, oil on canvas. Such a sweet boy. This piece was full of detail and color. Many hours were spent pushing certain greens forward and others into the background. But the slightly blurred effect makes the viewer focus on Sugar's face specifically, and if you look very closely I did adjust his eyes and cleared them up a bit. This was one of my first pieces that I really wanted to draw out the whole image before painting but couldn't. Too much pencil would make the colors dirty. The solution was to pre-paint or rough it in with a burnt umber wash. Then build up with some colors and refining the shapes. I am very happy with how he turned out. A memorial piece that will be cherished for many years to come. Anyway, Enjoy!

Sharing my latest, a 12 inch by 12 inch framed round portrait of a Boston Terrier named "Wanda"
She was a sincere pleasure to paint and I enjoyed making her "pop" from the canvas! Hope you all have a great day today! |
