Commission an Original Wildlife Painting, a Surreal Artwork or Even a Personal Pet Portrait!
Melanie uses your photo's & ideas to create an original work of art!
For Pet Portraits;
Melanie can create a very unique artwork starring your pet or a traditional classic style portrait, so feel free to reach out and let's talk about the subjects personality, a narrative or a mood you are after. We have such close relationships with animals and no one knows better than their favorite companion when a dog is happy and comfortable. And it’s often easier for you to get the opportunity for just the right pic. The little details that you see (head up is tense and head down is relaxed or the complete opposite!) help translate to me what the animal is trying to tell us with its body language. Getting the perfect clear shot is not difficult at all, however if you need any help with images, please contact me!
Pay with e-Transfer & CRYPTO Currencies! Pay using BITCOIN, DOGE or ETHERIUM & receive 5% OFF!

Prices & Payment Schedule
Prices start at about $450 for a 9x12 with one pet & a tonal background. Please send ideas and pictures directly to me via email (charltonart@protonmail.com) or social media messenger.. Each piece is so unique that I will quote it based on the complexity of the project, cost of the supplies (canvas, paint, time and special wishes). The price can be broken into two or three equal payments. The first payment is a non-refundable deposit, and the last payment is due when the artwork is finished and will include shipping. Commissions are booked on a first come first serve basis. If you have a deadline that’s sooner, contact me right away. I can sometimes accommodate an earlier deadline or we can do a gift voucher. Give a Portrait Painting as a Gift!
Portraits make wonderful gifts! They can be intimate, celebratory, or playful, depending on what you want your gift to say. Receiving a portrait is a powerful experience, and the portrait itself only becomes more meaningful with time. Pre-paid Portrait gifts make flexible and unique gift. They make a great gift on short notice, with the option of involving the recipient in the process. Details of the portrait do not need to be worked out ahead of time, and the price can be kept secret as you prefer. |
Memorial Portraits
A pet portrait oil painting has a freshness and a life of its own that makes the subject feel close. I think it’s especially fitting to memorialize these wonderful beings that just don’t live long enough. There is nothing like loving and losing a pet to bring home the realities of our mortality and the intensity of the bond that can be made between our species. No matter how long your pet lives, it’s usually just a brief moment compared to the length of a human life and all intense loves are met with intense losses. Portraits in their way defy this mortality and soften the loss. It’s a hard thing to explain why a painting should feel more significant than, say, the photo it’s based on, but I think it’s the care put into making it. I love that all the smiling dogs that I’ve painted will be just as happy and alert in their portraits for hundreds of years to come. They will not only bring a moment of joy to their companion now and long after they have passed, but also to countless generations of viewers after all of us are gone. I think it’s a lovely tribute to this bond and it’s an honor for me to make these portrait commissions.
